Restitution of bison in the Bia這wie瘸 Forest Print

Bison were absent from the Bia這wie瘸 Forest only between 1920 and 1928. Bison returned to the Bia這wie瘸 Forest in 1929, when they were brought to a specially prepared reserve.  This reserve was surrounded with a huge fence, two meters high, constructed from 3 inch thick wooden boards.  The breeding was started on the 19th of September 1929 when a pure-blooded bison BORUSSE was brought to Bia這wie瘸.  In the same year, a female BISERTA was added, and a year after – a female BISKAYA. The number of bison in the Bia這wie瘸 reserve in 1939 was equal to 16 specimens, including 7 specimens of the lowland line (1 male, 6 female) and 9 specimens of the Caucasian - lowland line (3 males and 6 females). The further breeding process aimed not only at the increase in the number of available specimens but also at the elimination from the Bia這wie瘸 reserve any bison with the mix of the Caucasian blood, which was finally achieved in 1950.
